Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack 2008 Released

The latest version of The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) version 2008 has been released. MDOP is a set of utilities that are very useful for an IT shop:

• Softgrid Application Vitrualization
• Asset Inventory Service
• Advanced Group Policy Management
• Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset
• System Center Desktop Error Monitoring

and soon

• Enterprise Desktop Virtualization

This version updates two of the utilities:

• Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset 6.0 (DaRT) adds support for Vista as well as Standalone System Sweeper, an antimalware product that runs while Windows is unbootable.
• Desktop Error Monitoring 3.0 SP1 (DEM) which "brings improved performance and scalability to the product, as well as an improved look-and-feel of the reports which can be generated for key metrics such as Top Application Crashes and Top Error Groups."
